Dr. Sweeney has a special interest in peripheral neuropathy and other nerve disorders. He is one of roughly 450 surgeons worldwide trained by renowned Johns Hopkins University professor and surgeon A. Lee Dellon, M.D. Dr. Sweeney trained in Baltimore, MD, directly under Dr. Dellon in surgical techniques to restore sensation and relieve the pain associated with certain types of peripheral neuropathy.
These procedures are performed under loupe magnification utilizing microsurgical instrumentation and technique.
Dr. Sweeney is one of only a handful of surgeons in the North Houston area trained in these highly advanced surgical procedures. These procedures are generally utilized for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, but are also successful in the treatment of many other types of peripheral neuropathy. Dr. Sweeney is also a surgical instructor and proctor, training other surgeons in these procedures and techniques. |
