Dr. D. Sean Sweeney was raised in Houston, Texas, and graduated Cum Laude from Klein Forest High School. Dr. Sweeney completed his undergraduate studies at Baylor University in Waco, Texas receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. He earned his podiatric medical degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Sweeney then completed his residency training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery with the Houston Podiatric Foundation in Houston, Texas.
His residency training was based at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Houston Northwest Medical Center, and Kingwood Medical Center. His practice encompasses all aspects of podiatric medicine, including reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, diabetic foot care and limb salvage, and primary podiatric medicine. As a former college baseball player and letterman at Baylor, he is keenly attuned to sports medicine injuries and their solutions. Dr. Sweeney is also a lower extremity peripheral nerve specialist and a member of The Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons.
Dr. Sweeney has been practicing in the Spring/CyFair area since 2003 and decided to open his own office in The Woodlands in the summer of 2009.
Dr. Sweeney’s state-of-the-art office is conveniently located near the corner of Kuykendahl and Woodlands Parkway in The Woodlands, Texas. This location was chosen because of its proximity and easy access to Spring and other communities in NW Harris and South Montgomery County.
He is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Texas Podiatric Medical Association, and the Harris County Podiatric Medical Society, and he is certified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery.
Dr. Sweeney is on staff at most of the hospitals in the area. He served as the co-Chairman of the Surgery Department at Houston Northwest Medical Center in 2009. Additionally he served as the co-Vice Chairman of the Surgery Department at Houston Northwest Medical Center in 2008.
Dr. Sweeney lives in The Woodlands with his wife and their three children.
Dr. Christy Leahey was born and raised in a small town in western Pennsylvania. She attended the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in 2000, and completed her primary podiatric care and surgical residency in 2002. Before relocating to The Woodlands in 2013 to join Sweeney Foot & Ankle Specialists, Dr. Leahey practiced in Pennsylvania.
She is double board-certified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. In addition, she is a Certified Wound Specialist with the American Academy of Wound Management.
Dr. Leahey lives in The Woodlands with her husband and son. She is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care and believes in treating each patient the way she would want herself or her family to be treated. She warmly welcomes new patients of all ages.
